Normally I have a great experience with Enterprise. The gentlemen that helped me when I picked up my car was friendly and efficient, which I appreciated. The problem came when I turned my car in at the Airport. I handed my keys to the Enterprise rep in the Enterprise car return line. He asked if I received a paper contract when I picked it up and I told him I did not but did receive an email. He said that I'd receive my receipt via email and I walked away.
I had originally reserved a car at the Naval Station and when I arrived there was nothing but a sign saying they were out of the office. I called the 3rd St location and was informed a shuttle van would come and pick me up in 30 minutes. When I called back in 30 minutes, I was told there was no shuttle van. I had to find my own transportation to the location. After 90 minutes, I had my rental car.
For a company who prides themselves on the fact that they "will pick you up", Enterprise Rent-A-Car failed on both trips. Very unprofessional.
When it came time to drop it off, I had intended to drop it at the Naval Station and then get a ride back to the ship. Once again, the location on base had a sign up in the window saying they were out of the office. I dropped the keys in the drop box and walked back to the ship.
After a couple of more days I heard nothing. I called the location and she said, "oh, we found it!". It would have been nice to get a phone call letting me know so I could finally breathe. All ended well but that inefficiency was a bit alarming. What if they didn't find the car?
The next day I got a call from Enterprise asking when I was planning on returning my car. I informed them that I already did and they proceeded to ask me when, where and to whom I turned it into. I gave them as much information as I could and she said she'd research it and call me back. Of course I'm freaking out wondering if someone had stolen the car and if I'd be responsible. A couple of days went by, with a couple of phone calls asking me to provide more details (what line did you drive into at the airport, what did the man look like...etc.). She asked what kind of car it was, which I was confused as to how they didn't know.
I called to reserve my car and told them my payment method was a prepaid Visa card. They said that was fine. I got to Enterprise the next morning, and they said they did not accept prepaid Visa cards, and now I am at an hour late for work with no ride.
Absolutely ruined my birthday. Have been renting cars here for a few years. ALWAYS have used the same card. ALWAYS. And now on my birthday of all days they decide to tell me I can't use the card without two utility bills. Just find it ridiculous. As a manager at a hotel myself I know that there's always a way to make an exception (which apparently is possible since they took my card 15+ times before as recently as 3 weeks ago). But I can clearly see that enterprise jacksonville beach cares more about policy and internal audits than they do about their customers and providing transportation.
I have been renting cars from the Jax Beach area for a few years now. They have always been courteous and professional. It is all about the customer there, they are always helpful to your needs. I always recommend them!! I am looking forward to the summer weekend rental specials. Thanks guys for a job well done!! Deb Glick
